No actual accident has happened yet (that I know of) but it is one waiting to happen. The North and Southbound lanes of I-71 at the 17th Ave exit have been redirected down the actual exit ramps for 17th Ave. They simply detoured the lanes down the ramps and are using them as interstate highway with no stops. The problem is, they did not close off the new "lanes" to pedestrians. A kid on a bicycle rode right out in front of me two days ago and would have been hit for sure if there had been a car or truck in the left lane beside me. I missed him by inches and I had my rig locked down doing my best to keep from hitting him. I dont know WTH the state is thinking.![]()

I live just south of Columbus and wonder every time I have to go thru the 70,71 area just how much crack the guy,or gal that designed that mess was smoking at the time he/she put it down on paper

You're not kidding. I know why they put 270 in, it was probably that guy's pentence. That is by far the most rediculous interchange that I have ever travelled through. -
Maybe Columbus hired the guys who invented the Michigan left turn, where you cant turn left at certain intersections, but have to go further down and do a u-turn then double back and make your right turn. 70/71 in Columbus is indeed a result of idiotic planners, but if they detoured to an exit ramp without closing that road(17th) that planner needs to be fired or jailed.

They tossed a few barrels out marking it as "closed". It doesnt stop pedestrians or kids on bicycles from crossing it anyway- thus my close call.
