My husband had an accident last year. He backed up and hit a car behind him that had pulled up so close he couldn't see it. The cops came, the damage was minimal, hood of car had a slight crease. No injuries. He paid the ticket.
Now he got a call from a lawyer that said they are representing trucking company he worked for. My question is can he be held financially responsible for this.

Not sure there are any members that are actually lawyers on this forum. That said, you'll probably get a few CB lawyers to chime in.

Best advice anyone could give you, in my opinion, is to contact a lawyer. You're probably going to need it.

we as drivers are always responsible when backing. and should we roll back (as in down a slight incline) and hit someone, we are at fault.

    lawyer up.

That's the same with any union if you don't pay your dues they don't care about you.

Yeah and how many keep saying "oh all they want is my money for politics, screw that." Then when they need some advice, they get pissed that it isn't free.

At most they may take his safety bonus or have him pay part of the insurance deductible. The carrier has insurance, they should handle a minor incident like that, the attorney is representing your husband and his company.

If you were an employee they probably cannot charge you. If you were an owner operator, it will depend upon what your lease says.

Not if he was employed by the company. Don’t talk to lawyers from the other side. Tell him to contact the insurance company .he is calling trying to get something he can use in court
