This is a big part of the reason why I got out of trucking and do hostler work. Companies and insurance will always look to put the onus on the driver. You can be a dedicated employee for years and make the company a ton of money but a couple of incidents and accidents can really make having a trucking career difficult afterwards. Don’t get me wrong, I think people who drive 80,000 lb death machines should be held to high standards. It’s just a career where you have to accept that if you get involved in something minor or major, people will try to find a way to blame you.
