    Good morning all
Looking for drivers that have actual experience in a prostar with maxx force engine. From driver perspective what did you like/dislike? Fuel milage? breakdowns? Not interested in "I have a buddy who's ex wifes cousin has one and its sucks". Thanks,

    Heavyd Thanks this.

dpf maxxforce have more breakdown that the def maxxforce. I used to a 2012 prostar, the engine only lasted for less than 200k miles. Prior to breakdown, we had a lot of regens. when they us 2014 prostar that has 450 hp and 1700 lb ft, it pulls better than what the dpf maxforce was. They don't have powerful jakes. Has speed governor 68 mph, when I descend the I-80 grade on milesburg, placed 3rd level brakes, it won't slow down the engine. I went over 70 mph and passed a freight classic very easy.

I've drove a couple of those. Left them both at dealers to get the emmisions system fixed. Serious loss of power when they plug up. Sissy engine, runs the other way when it sees a hill. It is good on fuel and quiet.
Oh yeah, like he said. The jake brakes are useless. Dragging my feet would work better.

I'm in my 2nd one. The 2011 was a disaster from day one. The 2012 I'm in now is a much better truck but still have had lots of EGR and cooler issue's as well as regen problems. The worst thing you can do is let these engines idle. Our local dealer here in Las Vegas is overrun with warranty work and the lack of any qualified mechanics. Our company is getting rid of them early as they break down every three or four months and spend two or three weeks in the dealer.. I've never been able to go longer than two or three weeks without a check engine light coming on. The truck itself is quiet and comfortable and has lots of room inside but I'm looking forward to my new Volvo in May.

Also horsepower and torque rating numbers are completely exaggerated with these engines. With today's technology, engine break efficiency is a disgrace

Thanks to everyone who has replied. Sounds like its pretty cut and dry, run away, run away. Guess my next ride will be the old tried and true pre emissions freightshaker with a detroit and an 10 speed. Have a great weekend all, thanks again for the replies.
