I"m on the fence about installing anymore apps.

Did a google search yesterday. Found a editorial sight of the best apps they recommended. Installed one of the recommended apps. And now my phone will be getting wiped out today.

 

Up to you, there are a lot of crappy apps out there.

All of the ones I listed are good enough for corporate-level use.

The worst offender on an Android phone is Google itself. They just modified the Play store to track your location constantly. Turn that off and your battery life will get much better.

 

I've been told it's called google now. But anyways, how do you turn it off? I'd like to turn everything off. Not just eta to home and what not.

 

Sorry, I couldn't tell you. I rooted my phone years ago and installed Cyanogenmod instead of stock Android. My version of CM came without Google Apps.

One way I've heard people do it is to do a factory wipe, then when it restarts refuse to log into Google. You can "sideload" apps you want to add via USB or SD card and/or restore other apps and data you like via Titanium Backup (if you use it to back up in the firs place), which will even grab data out of ClockworkMod backups for you if you rooted your phone and used it to back up.

It sounds like a lot of trouble, they don't make it easy. You can also keep Wifi and GPS turned off and data as well when not needed.
