Why should anyone pay, if they can bobtail in and safely fit in thier driveway?

If I live in a neighborhood that is zoned residential, meaning no businesses can locate and operate there
Peace and quiet for me, my children and grandchildren.

I am not interested in having someone in a truck tractor start his truck and drive through the area at all hours of the day and night.
I don't want to hear or smell it or see it

And just so i am not picking on truck drivers, :
I don't want any vape shops, dry cleaners, computer repair businesses, real estate offices, doctors offices etc. and the associated traffic either.
They all pay for locations for their businesses, why is trucking any different?

Years ago I might have agreed with you, but with newer trucks emissions and how freaking quiet they are you really haven’t much of an argument.
Fact is my neighbors pick up makes more freaking noise than my semi. Also louder are every stinking Harley within 5 miles of me ( I can hear everyone of them at any time of the day or night), every single diesel pick up at least 5 of the closer gas powered pick up trucks, 3 jeeps, 2 BMW cars, 5 other imports, 1 newer Dodge Challenger, 2 newer dodge chargers and a countelss bunch of classics that The wife sees about 1 time a week which is about what they see most semi trucks.

For the record my neighbors kids make more noise when they play ball than the local drivers do when leaving or coming home. Those kids also wake neighbors up at very early hours and are still making more noise than my truck late into the evening. The teen age one with his over revving and holding down two gears in his piece of junk truck comes and goes at all hours and is squeeling tires most times. Maybe we should let the trucks in, keep the Harley’s, imports and kids with parents asinine ideals out!

I am totally up for bashing neighbors with no manners. But that would be a tough zoning law to write.

Although some tractors may be quiet, and the drivers that operate them would do everything they could to be respectful of the neighbors, you and I both know there are many drivers who would abuse things, jakes as they come to the stop sign, straight pipes, the front yard looks like a repair shop....

Then you would have both, bad 4 wheeling neighbors and bad big trucks.
Zoning laws try to legislate civility. It is getting nigh onto impossible under any circumstances to find civility and that simple concept, Do Unto Others....

I can see both sides of the argument about parking a bobtail in front of the house. However, if they dropped a trailer at a truck stop for the weekend, they deserve to be infested with fleas.

At least the truck drivers are earning a living with thier trucks, much more tolerable than the #### heads that just make noise with no real reason other than they want to be heard!

I would take a neighborhood full of trucks over a bunch of turds that think thier crap doesn’t stink that make more noise than the truckers and then complain about the truckers!

We have the same zoning issue except I live right on a main highway/city street and I get Semi trucks going by every hour or so. But I cannot park my bobtail truck. Some places it makes sense to allow it and others do not make sense. When I lived in a nice subdivision I would agree no trucks but where I am now it should be aloud. Just my 2 cents!
