Furloughed (fancy union language for laid off) Midwest Airlines pilot looking for a patch till I can get back in the ####pit again. I've always liked big machinery, and especially trucks. It took a 4 year degree, 2 years instructing, one year flying night cargo, and 7-1/2 years flying regional jets to get to Midwest. Was it worth it? It WAS the best job ever while it lasted.
I've got a class date with Millis Transfer. They've gotten good reviews from the few truckers I know, and my neighbor deisel mechanic says their drivers don't ###### as much as a lot of the others. Truthfully, I'd take just about anything in this economy.
I'm not looking forward to all the time away from home. But, I can suck it up for a year. I have yet to convince my wife to take care of my chickens.
I have a LOT of hobbies. I like working on cars. (I still drive a 1991 Geo Metro; paid a dollar for it and got a parts car for free!) I've got a 1977 Corvette I'm very slowly restoring, and I just painted a 1990 Nissan Pickup. I'm an avid shooter, and do all my own reloading. I wetshave (badger brush, double edge safety razor). We've got two puppies, and the 24 chickens mentioned earlier. I'm planning on a big garden this year. I've got a couple of acres in the country, and between hunting it, gardening, and the chickens, the goal is to wipe out the grocery bill. I'm constantly tweaking my computer.
For as long as we've been married, my wife and I have talked about becoming owner-operators to supplement our retirement while we see the country.
I'm on this forum to get a better idea what really I'm in for. I'm also going to purchase a GPS, considering taking the plunge and getting an iPone, plus I'm looking for logbook software that runs on a PDA. I'll be looking for advice on all of those.

Hey and Howdy VetsJetsnGuns! Welcome to the forum. Gotta love a tag like that... says a lot. Good luck with the ground transportation after all those years up in the wild blue yonder...

I wish it were easier to say- I just can't see using it as a handle.
I'm trying to come up with something easy to say, two syllable, yet still sounds cool and has some kind of meaning. Tall order...
I'd much rather be in an airplane, but at the same token, I'm really looking forward to driving a truck. -
Hi there ....just dropped in to say hello and welcome ........

April 13th - in Richfield. It's 15 minutes from my house. I'm trying to get a discount because I won't be staying in the hotel, but so far, no luck...

Cool, I'll see you there! Have you been to the Millis thread?
