How do you splice into the air supply? I assume a proportioning valve has to be installed as well so the front brakes don't lock up

I haven't got that far with mine yet. Personally, I would start by seeing if the Peterbilt dealer could provide an air system schematic for your year of truck. That could give you a starting point on how they did it from factory.

I thank the Bendix LQ valves replaced the manual switch and there are three different ratios available.
Just what I would look for off the top of my head and why.
1 Replace the axle and brakes as an assembly because the hidden snakes will kill you.
2 Go heavier if possible. Vacuum pressure tanks can load you heavy. 4000 GL at 14 LBS ea!
3 No wedge brakes. Maintenance
4 Take the tag off the valve you got the axle from but research it because I have even seen some wrong on new trucks.
5 Supply the valve with air from the secondary tank and the control air should come from the secondary, bottom, foot valve delivery port. There are some exceptions to that like Ford running the steer and one drive axle together but I don't thank Pete ever did that. -
I read the new policy as you are ok with the brake-less front end as long as you pull a trailer. If you're going to make it a body job you need to add them in
