Forget it. If your in a serious accident a good lawyer can bankrupt your dad and you.Take your homes, business and retirement and every thing you hope to have. 30 years ago it was not a big liability to boot leg occasionaly as it is today. Personally and legally not worth the time and paper work required and with the FMCSA coming down on small business truckers like they are your just setting your self up as a target for disaster. Nice idea but not worth the risk to you and your family.

gonzo, everything is in place already except the authority, since its your dads company anyway, just get the authority in his name, the insurance is already in place, even a private carrier has to have the liability insurance in effect and if you are crossing state line you already have ifta and irp tags, probably cost ya about 500 bucks if all that is in place.

its not a real big deal at all, its a family thing already. if your willing to give all the revenue to you surely he is open for this.
