They’re all 2 stroke, unless they burn gas.

That’s not to say all gas burners are 4 stroke. We’re talking about applications.

Think about that for a second, then try again.

It sounded like you said all diesels are 2 stroke? Which would be miss informed. All diesels meeting emissions today are 4 stroke. The old oily Detroit’s with a blower were 2 stroke.

Everything but your weed blower and chain saw is 4 stroke now.

Ok for second there I thought I was with the stupid lol. I have only read a little about the detroit history. Am i correct in saying that the V configuration detroit diesels were their only 2 strokes? Or am I mistaken?

Not true. Unless you’re referring to things sold in NA. The rest of the world relies heavily on 2 stroke engines.

The rest of your statements are 100% correct :)

I love our trips to the EU. While they scold us in international politics about Climate change. I can grab a 2 stroke scooter, or a car easily ;) The place is overrun by those engines. Even their local delivery trucks use 2 cycle engines. I’m taking mix the oil with the gas engines ;) They sound like the old dirt bikes from back in the day.

That may hold true for Detroit. I don’t know a complete history. But the 2 stroke wasn’t limited to engines that used a blower. I do know that ;)

Yes, I forget about the rest of the world!!! We don’t have the luxury here in NA of the good old days where power and longevity are the only things the engineers have to keep in mind!!! So the good old days tend to get forgotten....☹️

There may be more than just the old 71 and 92 series Detroit’s, those are only ones i’ve been familiar with.
