So how is the freight in and out of Chicago? I'm pulling tanks and while I like what I do, my current company is going through total chaos. Most of the other tanker outfits near me, I have no interest in working for, so I'm considering a change in direction. I pulled flats for a year in the 90's and liked it, but hated the company.

Specifically, are their agents around Chicagoland any good?

I see their low ball freight offers on the loadboards daily. Not a good sign.

I don't know if you knew but I switched to dumps and I've seen some admiral guys in some of the scrap yards with their steps. Knowing the customer I was at, he was pulling cheap freight, but I could be wrong. I never did find someone to talk to other then calling the company.

    RERM Thanks this.

My wife and I have been with Admiral for about a year and a few months with a 53 step, only 5 axles. We like that the agent freight generally pays better than DAT or Internet Truck Stop, and equally happy that Admiral lets us use load boards other than just theirs- unlike landstar for example, so we hardly ever get stuck somewhere because there's no agent freight on the area.

If you use their board they take 25%. If you use DAT or ITS, they take 17%. So you gotta pay attention to what your choices pay to maximize profit.

And the people that work there are really super nice. I seriously have never had the privilege of working with nicer people. They even have an online way to submit permit applications, and they're cheaper than going through a permit place on your own.

I use to run my own authority, but honestly don't see myself ever leaving here. They want you to be successful. And since my wife and I ended the year in the #1 place in the stepdeck division, I'd say we were pretty successful!

pusherman, JayTee and Speed_Drums Thank this.
