Really? Wow!
They had three of those old FLD's operational and road worthy when i was there. They admitted they were ending their useful life. Then two or three old Vulva's in the yard for pre-trip. I thought they were pretty well organized in 07, but questioned the equipment that they were always fixing. They quit doing flatbed training right before I started too. -
Today, I went down to the san bernadino dmv to test.... I PASSED!!!
One thing i want to mention is to the people considering truck driving..... avoid schools using daycabs with 1 rear axel, and a short ### flatbad on the back with 1 axel... i saw alot of that today and am glad A.S.D at least uses 2rear axel trucks, and 2axel 40foot trailers, i would prefer training with 48 to 53foot trailers as thats most likely what im going to be pullin around townJarhed1964 Thanks this. -
Got my permit there, but after another week with that unorganized clusterf*** with their garbage craptastic "tractors and trailers", and even worse instruction by "instructors" who could barely speak english, I bailed and went to ASD. -
Just a P.S....im having a hell of a time finding a job with only 80hours training... most start up training company's want 160 hours training... just a heads up. my instructor was awsome and got my skill up to pass the California state D.M.V test...
-
How long did you attend Advance ? 80 hrs training equals 2 weeks ? Or what ? I know, I worked there some years back, but just did behind the wheel training and didn't get into hours required etc. Back then, students doing the complete school had 2 weeks classroom, then 2 weeks behind the wheel, which would be 160 hours of school.
-
for me it was 1 week practicing pre-trip and coupling/uncoupling...... and 1 week city driving / manuvers and the following monday i went to the D.M.V to test... passed but every start up company wants 160 hours, or i have to be at least 23... my best bet is CR england im calling them Monday

Regardless what school you go to, You be the one to locate and find the companies that will give you the pre hire. In fact contact them before you go to any school and ask them if they would hire you coming from that school.
That will tell you real quick what type of school it is.
All you are going to get is pre hires....which means they will take a look at you and that is all. You should get several lined up in my opinion just in case your first choice does not work out. I had orientations lined up for a couple of months.
Fortunately I got hired with the first one and just needed to call and cancel my orientation with the others.
Best of Luck!
