Advantages of staying under 26000 lbs? Disadvantages?

    Every state is a little different with their truck rules but the one you primarily have to worry about is the one that issues your base plates. IRP and IFTA aren't required until you get above 26,000 plate weight or GVWR on the truck itself (Class 7 or 8 basically). That's why a lot of guys want to stay at 26,000. It's a lot less paperwork.

    I been trying to find info on what i need to start my own HS in NC being under 26k with a Class-A licensed. i live in Nash county. Seems like no one wants to tell you any info. Could you PM with what i would need or at least a little guidence, i would really appreciate it.

    You do not need A CDL and you don't participate in IFTA. You must follow log book rules and I was thinking that you need an apportioned plate as well.
