always keep the oversize permits until after you are paid for the load to corroborate the route you took.

always verify that the miles you drove are the same as the miles you were paid for.

Well I get to sit for the night doing nothing. Wathed a movie, played some games...
The planners did have a load, but didn't give it to me. I could pick it up, but not deliver until next week. Guess I don't want that one.
And yes, I have all permits and also sent FM msg saying what miles actually were. He said payroll would pay me off of hub miles at start and hub miles and stop. We will see and I will verify!

Picked up my latest load in Ghent, KY. Ran to a flying J just south of Indy just before the mandatory New Years Eve shutdown. So far so good.
Made it to Gary on Sunday and finally got my trailer looked at. ABS light was on most of the time. Went through the inspection, light on. Pulled around to door, light on. Pulled into door, light off. And it stayed off. Mechanic couldn't work on it if it wasn't causing an error. So I leave for Oak Creek. 5 mins down the road, light back on. Oh, and somewhere along the way my circuit breaker for my left turn signal popped. I didn't have a left turn signal on trailer.
So, I then pull a 34 at the Pilot in Oak Creek. Pull in to the consignee this morning. Appt was for MONDAY, not Tuesday. Great!
Call up FM, uh oh, there was a service alert about the appt, but no one told me... Or the 3 other drivers who were suppose to deliver on Monday too. So now I sit at a small truck stop in Richfield, WI so I can deliver on Wednesday morning. Started this journey on Friday in South Carolina and won't get unloaded until Wednesday. Can you say Layover pay! Already spoke to FM and he will get another msg in morning reminding him! This wasnt my fault so they can pay me for doing nothing!

    Finally empty!

Stopped in Appleton and unloaded the trailer. This time the trailer Mechanic saw the issues and knows what to do.

Picked up a flat and went to Alagoma to pick up a curtain??? Why didn't I pick up a curtain to drop there? Planners not paying attention again. I have a load going to Marshfield doors in the morning. Apparently, Alagoma rejected these door inserts and I was the guy to take them back. And to top things off, I decide to scale the load. It just wasn't pulling right. 42k or so it says in the box. UH OH, drives are 36K. So time to slide them tandems. 30 minutes later and with the help of an O/O with a chock block I get them to move. And now a new trailer that needs work. 15 minutes was spent beating on one pin to release. Of course that pin did not go back in. the wheel box is off and needs to go into the shop, but since it's loaded they want me to drop it first. Hopefully it makes its way back to the terminal BEFORE Marshfield doors loads it again.
Man this past week has been hell on me with crappy trailers!!

Usually in cases like that either Algoma has a customer that requested a regular flat, or Roehl needed a flat up there to load at another customer.

if you take an oversize through the house, verify that the paid miles are okay. you won't be paid full odometer miles, because going off a theoretical permit route to get to the house is considered equivalent to going home empty at the end of a duty tour.

you will be paid permit miles to the house plus permit miles from the house, minus the extra miles considered to be driven solely to get you home. these extra miles are calculated by running a permit route to the consignee WITHOUT going home, subtracted from the actual miles you drove when you DID go home.

On Thursday, dropped the load at Marshfield doors. Was suppose to be live, who knew, but they were not ready to unload so I had to drop. Not get this... When leaving Marshfield doors I was making a left from 8th st to MN-13. All of a sudden my qualcom goes nuts! Red light flashing and everything. When I get back to terminal it says there was a critical event??? WTH?
I get a call a couple of hours later from FM saying what happened. I made a left turn qualcom went nuts. That's all I know. Weird, but he said he would take care of it. Not first time I have gotten a critical event, but first time I ever got one for no reason, at least I have no idea what the reason was for.
My day was pretty boring until I finally get sent up to Prentice to pick up a relay, so I can drop it to Marshfield to relay out. I get there and guess what, another bad trailer. Fortunately the guys in Prentice repaired the flat. Unfortunaltey, with a steel rim that will need to be replaced in Marshfield. Strap the flat to the trailer and on my way.
Get to Marshfield and let them know the issue and we find other issues during the inspection. This trailer was inspected a month before and still had a few issues with it besides the flat. That's another trailer with an issue.
To make long story short, I deadhead home from Marshfield with a step deck. It was the second step deck I picked. The first had an issue with the ABS light again. Actually an issue with my truck and that trailer. Had trailer looked at, no problem. Had trucked checked, no problem. Decided to drop trailer and pick up another, no issues there!
Man it was a weird trip, but glad to be home for the weekend. Stay safe out there!

Oh, I forgot to say I also saw my first truck in Marshfield. The driver was bringing it through the inspection line. Didn't meet the driver, was looking for him, but did look at the truck.

Looks like he either was hit or hit someone. DS bumper was being held with bungee cords and there was some nice yellow paint on the fender. Not saying who or what, but it was a shame for the old girl to have that damage. :biggrin_2553:
