Hi - I put this post on my thread also:

One concern I have at this time in going with Roehl is: Will I be able to find a place to park the rig during home time? Seems like I might get a little more help from the company on this and maybe the fleet manager will be more helpful... The recruiter is telling me it would be up to me to find a place convenient and big enough that will give permission to park. He said is does not need to be a secure area, just need permission so it doesn't get towed; sometimes drivers can make a deal with some place that has a large lot and charge maybe as little as $10/month for the few days it will be there. He also said that some truck stops might give permission to leave it unattended for a couple of days. The closest truck stop is a Flying J @ 24 miles away.

I also have a friend from grade school who has a farm in the area...

Maybe I'll take a little drive around and see what might work...

Any ideas from those who have run into this?

    Thanks.

I found a small two truck owner operator with a lot in my town after driving around. I pay him $20 a month to drop my trailer and then I bobtail my truck home. Its only about 4 miles. :biggrin_25525:

Not likely your fleet manager will help you find a parking spot. Check around with grocery/hardware stores, or local truck stops. Where about in Maryland are you?

So to continue inn this week's fun trip! Got unloaded, even without the appt. Headed to my favorite St Paul shipper, SSAB and only my favorite because I have picked up there at least 5 times in my short flatbed life. Get there and there is no load??? Call FM, planner says 2 loads? Waiting in truck while they figure it out and another driver pulls up. he says, "I pull into the place and my Qualcomm beeps, load canceled.". Well guess mine is canceled too.
So a few minutes after that I get load cancel msg and new load. Go back 25 miles to almost where I was to pick up a different load. Get there load up and start my way to Prentice. Another driver loaded up right behind me. The next morning while driving along US 8 it seems that Deer season is in full effect. I almost hit 2 that were standing in the road and thankfully the third one decided to not cross as I passed them. About 10-15 miles later another one standing in the middle of the road. Hit the horn and he scampered off the road. Man that one was a little closer, BAM! I look in my side mirror and a second deer that I didn't even see is spinning down the road. Almost run over it with the trailer tandems, but it spins out from underneath. Apparently the horn spooked him to cross, right into the trailer! :biggrin_2559:
After dropping in Prentice, the second driver shows up and I ask him if he saw a deer in the road. "Yes, but I went around him." :biggrin_255:
From Prentice, I go north to Bessemer, Mi for some plywood. My heaviest load ever, 49240 lbs. I was 79340 total with 3/4 tank. Man that was a close one. Funny thing, delivered today and didn't hit one open scale from the UP to Plank, IL. Oh well! So last thing was to pick up a load from Lemont, IL to take to Gary to Relay. Load is heading to Georgia. Wish I had that one, but I have only 4 hours Left until Friday and I am suppose to be home on Friday. So looks like I will be sitting here in the GRAVEYARD!

Sorry I haven't had much time to look where that is, been tied up with a DOT audit. Wasn't too bad, nice guy and he didn't dig very deep. Maybe I'll look around that area if I have time for some suggestions.
