Don't list a crash that doesn't show up.

Will prospective companies go to my former company and ask for a record of incidents? Apparently I have no DOT recordable accidents and no official records of anything, but I'm sure there were insurance claims for everything.

Don't even think about that. You don't know if there were insurance claims. The shop probably took care of it so it wouldn't have to be reported to the insurance company.

Question: "Why did you leave your last company."
Answer: "Level 1 inspection with violations is what I was told."

Don't volunteer anything or you may never find a trucking job.

That's pretty liberal policy with that co. In 2008 I drove for cfi. I scratched another trucks fairing backing in a truck stop. I reported it. A fork lift broke through the trailer floor, and I was blamed for that the 3rd was I snagged the front bumper of a rental truck at a receiver where they had everything parked like puzzle pieces. Had tandems forward. By that time, I decided to say nothing and see what happened. It got reported and I was sent home with 5 months in. I got a federal job for 12 yrs and was better off. I retired and now have been hauling foodgrade incident free for 2 yrs. I learned that in trucking, your job hangs on any mistake. That's why I wouldn't recommend it for young folks. Go i.t. or medical field.
