I'm actually happy I'm starting now. I live over on the western edge of the San Juans, and figure it's a good chance to get some hands-on training in bad weather.

I took my driver's training in Minnesota when I was in high school, and had the benefit of learning how to drive in the snow, including handling skids. That knowledge has saved my bacon more times than I can count.

I would rather learn to drive in this stuff w/a trainer for guidance - than learn it by myself!! Your call though.
