Just graduated CDL school and looking at a place to go for my first driving experience. So far I have spoken with Tyson, Ozark, WEL Companies, A.N. Webber, and Roehl. Each have, on the surface, their own merits and "bumps and bruises", but I have already determined that all of these mostly address the things that I had wanted in a starter company and all are hiring in my area (Mississippi). Any current drivers for any of these with information to help "guide" me would be most welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Whittle your choices down to 2 or 3 by reading the post on this forum...
Good/Bad Trucking companies,
Each company has it's own page on this forum written by current & past drivers.
You can weed out the ones that won't get you home ( if that's what you need), and weed out the
ones that that won't hire new drivers, etc.
Decide what top 10 things matter to you, then apply to all of them.
Good Luck.Little Eddy Thanks this. -
Thanks, Green-eyed! I have already done most of that filtering to get the list down to these five. I really have not found too much on the forum that is recent about these though. I have ranked these five, though they are not listed by rank. Hoping to see if anyone has recent information that might alter my ranking.

Sorry about all my ADVICE. We here at the forum are used to people coming on for info without reading the threads. Good for you to have done your homework.
We're looking at Tyson and Roehl...all good. Don't really know anything about the others. No news is good news when it comes to trucking companies. LOL
Good luck in your search and in your new career. Enjoy the road my friend.
Might want to change your status from Wannabee to 0-1yr. You've earned it. -
Sixty, it may be worth your time to call/apply to Abilene Motor Express out of Richmond,VA. We are pretty flexible with home locations and they do hire new grads. Search this site for "Abilene" and you will find 2-3 threads updated with daily info. While not as large as the names you listed, we are solidly medium sized. If you call ask for Sally. Shes a sweetheart and genuine.

Well thanks for reminding me about the profile! Check it out.
I have spoken to both Roehl and Tyson and they both have their positives. In fact, I have spoken to all of them at least once. I am about to think that I may be suffering from analysis paralysis with all the research I have done in the last couple of months! Sheeesh! The boss says I need to put together a spreadsheet and get all the information consolidated into one place rather than having notes on several pieces of paper and in various notebooks. Hate to admit it, but she is probably right on that one!
Sounds like you all are in the process of making a change for yourselves. Good luck with your process. With the industry changing like it is, making the "right" choice is really almost like rolling the dice! But, if we do our due diligence we should come out better than some!
Thanks again!dennisroc Thanks this. -

Brin, I had an exchange with JohnBoy about Abilene a couple of months ago. There is a lot to like there, but I am not sure about the 6 month training time. Pasquale, not to worry, CRST is well known and, therefore, not forgotten! Hehehe.

I'd go with Tyson living in your area. They are all about the same. Some just a little worse then others. Get a gig already dude time is ticking.
