First off, I'd like to say that I'm glad I found this place.
I've worked for a local lumber yard for 10 years. They went out of business and I was let go. Same boss hired me to work with him across the street at another lumber yard. (Six months after I relocated mostly unwillingly to keep my class a position.) Things were slow at first, but it seemed to be picking up. Last Thursday, I was 'laid off' again, to cut labor. 50% of the staff was let go. We were all stunned. So now, I'm out on my ###, with no prospects. My wife says I'm being too picky because ideally I want to find the same work - flatbed class a with a forklift on the back. Not very easy to find. I also dont think I'm going to be happy with 'long hauls.' I'm recently married, and diabetic, so, I'd really like to be home every night. I live in Central PA, so I'm seeing a lot of 'regional' jobs... After seeing pay issues and other posts here, I REALLY want to be local. Any advice will be greatly appreciated...going nuts sitting at home. Thanks!

You might have to settle for a regional job until things pick up. Atleast that way you can still pay your bills until something better comes along.

Best put all your "preferences" in your back pocket for a later date and snag a seat where you can.
Things are steadly getting tighter and likely to get worse
People need to relize,America is at a turning point.
A return to the old ways of "earning" what you have is at hand. All that feel good stuff is OUT !
This is no time to pick and choose.Brickman Thanks this. -

Diabetes may be a problem if you're on insulin injections. Driving locally (intrastate...staying in PA) within the Commonwealth it may not have been a problem but once you leave the state the federal rules are applicable over the state rules, and the physical for Interstate (more than one state) disqualifies you from driving while using insulin injections.
