I’m a company driver with 5 yrs experience thinking about going on my own. Also I would start without a truck payment.

That great to start without a truck payment. Now is the time to do it. Looking back you will wished you done it sooner. Husband and I new authority since march this year. Was attached to company until early august. Then early august we start doing it totally on our own and we were like daum I wish we would of done this sooner. We started doing only power only loads (dry van with convoy) a few weeks ago we paid cash for a flatbed trailer.

I'm not an O/o. But I would suggest leasing your truck on to a percentage of the load carrier. Like Landstar.

You don't have to get your own authority that way and you use their trailers.

    JMedina Thanks this.

DISCIPLINE. with your money, with your truck maintenance. It will give you the freedom to put your rate and to refused to haul cheap loads. so, with that you will help yourself and you also will help other o/o.

im so against this model of business. why someone becomes an o/o if you are going to continue putting limits to yourself????? seriously, why ????? as an O/O the sky is the limit !!! your freedom!!!! If you going to work for someone else , then be a driver !!!

Well JB Hunt and Amazon would give him loads on day one, after that he needs to work his way up to the good brokers.

I run Power Only now and if the rate is good, I’ll pull a van for Amazon and JB Hunt. I don’t limit myself to DAT and brokers only.
