I'm signed on with what I consider to be a good trucking ( operating out of Montana )
Training to get my CDL. I'm on day two of about a three week stint with a trainer.
Nice guy, knows gable, think I can learn a lot from him.
Problem is... He has a rather large dog, friendly enough though.
But the truck is FILTHY, stinks to high hell, dog hair EVERYWHERE( I'm covered in it, and my clothes smell )
Question is, should I just stick it out, learn as much as I can, and in a few weeks I'll be moving om anyhow.
Or should I speak up, and request a different trainer ? ( I could do a lot worse trainer wise I think )
Advice needed....

Of course, stick it out. Then enjoy life in a clean smelling truck.
gdyupgal Thanks this. -
you could speak with your company about this. i personally would not put up with it. like what if he was a smoker and you're not, why should you stink of his smoking?

I'd rather be trained by somebody who knows what he's doing, even if the truck is a little dirty...than to be trained by someone with a clean truck but doesn't know his rear end from a hole in the wall.
Couple weeks with Mr. Knowledgeable and you're in your own truck and on your way to a successful career. Couple weeks with Mr. Clean, and you're on your own trying to figure it out as you go.CruisingAlong, clausland, SHOJim and 2 others Thank this. -
Wow, that's a tough call. It's hard enough living with another person in such a small space, but now there's 3 of you. I know this much...if it affected my ability to do the job, I might have to make an adjustment. I could deal with a clean, odorless, non-shedding dog, but I don't think I could deal with waking up every day with a mouthful of dog hair.

3 weeks will go by fast!!! it sucks but making waves at a new company might create a bumpy future...sad but true..if you like the guy...like the company...just rough it the short time..a lot of companies make you train for months so count your blessings absorb the the knowledge & put vics in your nose & soon you'll be in your own truck :*D

He's gone noseblind. Febreeze time.
I agree with Reverend Bulldog. If you actually have a trainer that can teach the mechanics and fundamentals, consider yourself lucky.
I'm a man. If I had a problem with a trainer's truck, I would say something to him. Face to face. He just might be a man, and can actually listen to constructive criticism without becoming butthurt.SHOJim Thanks this. -
Smelly trucks are nothing. Wait til you get to a parking lot full of piss and unkept truck stops.
Truckfreedom and gdyupgal Thank this. -
Thanks for the replies, so far I'm leaning towards sticking it out.
After I get my CDL I'll be out with a different trainer anyhow.
That being said, I am by nature a clean well organized person, so this IS difficult for me
