Good Luck to you newbietrucker007......sorry for all the banter....wish you as long and as safe a career as there is possible for a driver to have! Got a question for ya though...do you guys have any bear close to you....I'm in Asheboro NC...looking for a place to maybe hunt them...know that the eastern part of the state has a sizable population.

Good for you. Yeah, it might be difficult, but you'll come out better than you think. I wish telling my folks I wanted to drive a truck was ALL I had to tell them...lol. I had some confessions to mom and dad that got dad to telling me "go out in the street while I start the car, boy!"

    Good luck.

You do have a point which I never thought of,there are some great paying trucking jobs which I have never done. But general freight, its all the same. Also as being treated like a professional, its all the same far as trucking goes.To me a professional is whilte color blue collar is what we are labor. If you wanna call us professionals then lets call ppl that work in the fast food industry as professionals also.

    mje Thanks this.

"If truck driving was classified skilled labor employers could sponsor and import 3rd world immigrants to do it for pennies on the dollar and get 0 bellyaching to boot."

Immigrants, by federal law, may not be sponsored for "unskilled labor" positions.

(If you're gonna hunt bear, be a man and do it with a bow!)

lol, technically we are not considered skilled. In reality I really don't care. I love what I do and get paid fairly well to do it. That all that matters IMO.

Enjoy what you do and be safe doing it.

Wouldn't matter to me if everyone blames me. At the end of 14 hours I found myself too tired to drive, virtually exhausted from "waiting".

Nobody's going to change the rules to suit how I get rest, so I had to get out.

    mje and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this.
