The dui is not on my abstract but it shows that it was reinstated on there

You might have missed this year’s big push but try getting on with a farm. It’s experience and they might not care if it shows up. If SK is an option for you some farmers really need a driver, not sure if AB is as desperate.

I've been asked by a few farmers if I wanted to drive this year.

If it was 9 years ago you’ll be fine. I don’t believe you can pull more than a 5 year abstract.

In alberta you can get 3, 5 and 10 year abstracts.

Companies usually ask for either the 3 or 5 year abstract.

I have o ly seen 1 company have I. Their job ad asking for a 10 year. I don't recall which company that was, but it's extremely rare.

In Alberta, you will likely be required to show a 5 year driving history, meaning, bring your abstract from your home province.
A criminal record search will reveal that you had a DUI 9 years ago anyway. As far as reinstatement date, there are more than a few non criminal reasons for a driver to lose their driving privileges. Demerits, non-payment of fines, child support and some that I am probably missing. The company I work for wants 10 years no criminal charges, but most want 5 years clean.
Good luck, I don't think it will be so much of an issue as a lack of experience in class 1 driving will be.

    Albertaflatbed Thanks this.

Actually we've rejected applicants for a criminal charge 40 years ago (in Ontario). There is not necessarily a limit on the years back, it depends on the company's policy
