I am hoping that I might get some advice from the experienced drivers. I have a home that has on the property, a large (55' X 81') storage building that was used for parking a semi. The house is out in the country and it seems, not a lot of people are interested in a home with such a large outbuilding (although, I loved having it).

Are there any OTR publications or on-line sites where it might get more interest from those in need of a home where they can park a semi? Or, Is this something that not a lot of drivers would be interested in?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Semis spend 99% of their life outside. The cover may be helpful for a mechanic. A racing team may find it more appealing. You can advertise in their publications if you are near things. NHRA, etc.

It all depends on where the house is located and how many truck drivers with their own trucks live in your part of the country. If you are in the middle of nowhere, I doubt if the garage will be much of an asset as far as appealing to drivers, but if you are in fairly close proximity to a metro area then marketing the house to drivers could help a lot.

The house is in Illinois (probably not the best state) a little north of the middle of the state right between I-39 & I-55. Since a previous owner had the outbuilding built for his truck, I had thought that it might not be getting the right exposure to the people that would be interested.

That area is 99% ag industry. Unless you have some land to go with it probably not that big an asset.

You will probably understand that insurance on the building will be a problem if the truck's DEF should burn the place down for example and that third party owner wants his payment in full for it. (Combined with you counter suing for the burnt building)

Property taxes are probably the other reason (Besides it being in Illinois which is truly suffering from a exodus across the board)

A true trucker who is busy and making money might park there maybe 40 days of the year. It would not be worth the constant outflow of money.

is it just a pole barn or is it insulated concrete floors ect. good electrical service gas heated water floor drains ect. as just a shed, the outbuilding isn't worth that much. i guess it depends what kind of value you are trying to put on the building

the other problem being a little under an acre of land most people that would have use for that large of a building are going to want more land. small ma pa trucking company with 5 trucks. needs enough real estate to turn trucks around drop a trailer outside ect. im looking to build a similar size building but i want it to be on atleast 5-10 acers

I believe it has 50amp service. Water and gas lines already run from the house, but disconnected at the house due to not having use for them. About 1/2 the floor is concrete with drains, but not heated that I'm aware of.
