Before I had a forklift I used two saw horses and a sheet of 4 x 4 plywood with a blanket layed on it. Adjust saw horses to the height of opened hood and unbolt then roll truck back.
Cascadia, simon999, stayinback and 3 others Thank this. -
You have a engine lift? May have to weight the lift as boom would likely need to be completely extended. I have used engine lift to remove pickup cabs
stayinback Thanks this. -
What @superhauler said. only I used,A stack of old Pallets & an Old mattress.
wore out, stayinback and Oxbow Thank this. -

old drums can help, watch out for grill it cant hold much so keep supports on outside of grill
stayinback Thanks this. -
Same as Superhauler except I used 4 jackstands so I could adjust the height and 2 4x4's running lengthwise with the truck. and if you need more room just roll the hood upside down.

Best Advice.
Get a Gun
The Hood is not going to want to be removed.
Probably going to take a lot of threatening, swearing and aggression for the Hood to be removed .
But Hopefully when that is all done, you will be Hoodless, and will have done a great service for the community.Mcast3092 and stayinback Thank this. -
Thanks guys- I Used an engine Hoist- But I couldn't grab it from the ground, Boom only goes so high...
Used an old flatbed trailer-Put the Crane on the trailer then lifted it onto the trailer, nose first then dropped it gently...
This particular hood had No quality anchor points
Only way to do this right is a forklift or an employee to help -
I have put 3 old tires down and blocks of wood to the height of the tipped over hood. Then unbolted the hood letting it rest on the blocks/tires. Then back up the truck. I also tipped one over onto a pickup with the tailgate let down. Drove forward very slowly. Removing a hood makes some jobs so much faster and easier that it is more than worth the time and effort it takes to remove the hood.
wore out Thanks this.
