You call the cops if some one doesn't pay you. Or if some one parks in your drive way. Why not if they refuse to unload you.

Uh... no you don't. Or, I should say, you can call the cops, but 99.99 times out of 100 they'll tell you it's a civil matter. Which it is.

We'll of course the broker is acting like nothing is wrong. I tried to contact oodia but they will not open till Monday am. I will not off load anything until we reach some sort of arangement. And $100 is def not going to work.

Did you stop to think befor you asked that question? "Police" deal with criminal matters. What crime was committed? A contractual agreement was breached. That is a "civil" matter to be settled by a court with attorneys and judges. If you decided to proceed with any legal action.

Keep in mind, I'm not trying to be a buster, I am trying to help, ok?

Youre losing money quickly. You've already lost one load, now you are starting the week off with the same problem. For future reference, the next time something like this happens, you have to have the negotiations done BEFORE quitting time. You are down 2 business days. Thats a few thousand lost.

Just tell them, "nothing personal...just business."

Although I'm new to this a broker called me on Thursday night 740 miles into a 800 mile trip with an 8am Friday apointent. "Ummm what was your pick up number? What was the delivery address we gave you? Where are you?"

I'm like" I'll help any way I can but if this truck is not unloaded by 10 am it's $2500.00 a day so hopefully we can get it figured out quick."

Broker " umm just deliver as scheduled."

Our truck must be available for reload Friday by noon. If I miss that I loose a weeks worth of work!!! I would use this tactic any day of the week though. Either gets you empty quick or starts the negotiation possess on the first call you sniff a problem.

So to give everyone an update we were able to get $300 a day for the off load delay. I would have liked to get more $$ but it all worked out.
    Thanks everyone for the advice.

That's a %200 increase over the initial offering. Not a bad job of negotiating driver.

    Good luck!
