So, I'm just about ready to start school, and I'm at the the point where i need to research some companies. TMC gave me a call, but I've been unable to return it because of all the flooding going on my area. I.E In the last 2 days iv had to pump over 100,000 gallons out of my works basement. beside the point. I've been looking at TMC and all seems pretty good, but I'm wondering what other people think of them, and if the amount of home time they advertise is realistic for Grand Rapids Michigan.

    Thanks in advance!

I drive for TMC....Its a pretty good company. (And no I dont get paid to say that, or if you join)

Flat bedding is more work, but I make a bit more money. In my fist year I averaged over .45 /mile and made about 62,000. I'm now a trainer and make a bit more. If you work hard you can take home 800-1200/week depending on home time. If you want you can get home every week-end.

As for trucks, they are getting old, but we are getting all new trucks within the next year or 2. They are decently maintained, but my truck has over 900,000 miles on it and is showing its age. All in all, its good pay, one of the best training programs, and pretty decent trucks.

Oh yea, we always get green lighted by prepass so that says something about our safety record. We also earned the alcoa preferred safe carrier award.

TMC seems pretty squared-away. Not sure about their freight up the in MI, but you are not too far away from the steel area of Northern Indiana (Portage/Gary/E.Chicago) and there is a Gerdau MacSteel just South of Detroit, so it may be an OK area for you.

I'm definitely going to look into TMC. so far I think that's where I'm leaning toward. I'll be giving them a call monday. Thanks for all the quick replies, and if anyone has any additional information, I'd be more than happy to hear it.
