Today i was rolling up 33 from columbus to 75 heading to lima,oh. route 33 was plasterd with dot and other law enforcment. as i ran in the slow lane, 2 cars in front of me, a few behind and one on my left, i see a bear roll up behind it, and then then roll in behind me. long stort short, he pulls me over.......bam! 71 in a 55.....just like that.

now we have all heard guys come on here say cry and moan about how they were not speeding. i'm not gonna cry and moan, but i was NOT doin 71 in a 55 but theres no way for me to prove that. i run that streach EVERYDAY, if he would have said i got ya at 61 or 62 in a 55, i would have paid it,said ok and went on with bussiness, but i #### sure wasnt at 71. thats ridiculous. so, now i'm gonna fight it, prolly wont win no way, but when an officer of the law just flat out lies i cant just sit on it.

I'm curious if anyone has some advice on who they would hire on this. i called around to a few local attorneys in marysville,oh and just called the interstate trucker people, all are right around 400 to 500 dollar area to do it.thats fine.but i have never used any of the ooida or interstate attorneys or anyother big outfit. just looking for some advice. some say,"just pay it it will be cheaper"....yeah true in the short go,cost of fighting this is not an issue here though. i dont really care what it cost, with in reason, just a chance to fight it i guess is what i'm looking for. 2 reasons i'm not gonna just pay it and go. insurance rates, and the cop is a liar....i haul hazmat and i like my cdl clean........rant over.......sorry y'all.

You would have to pick one of the worst states to get a ticket, lol. They hate trks.I got a ticket yrs ago on the columbus bypass.I was'nt even doing 55.Thats before they up the speed for trks.Anyway he clocked me at 68 .I told him to get his toy gun recalibrated. What he clocked was the guy passing me but of course for Ohio it's easier and more revenue then the 4 wheeler. So I plead not guilty at the Wasshington court house and because my dispatcher pulled a fast one on me,I could'nt make it to court and they would'nt rescedule so I had to pay it.I guess your best best is hire a lawyer but thats still not a guarantee of getting it reduced or thrown out.

I agree.OHIO sucks! i live here in ohio just about an hour south of columbus so i know how the dot and law enforcement are on big trucks. thats what pisses me off the most. I know theres not much chance of beating it, but i guess i wont know unless i try. 71 in a 55 just looks way to bad for me to except. especially when i know i wasnt going that fast.

I have'nt been thru that state for quite sometime but it took a couple yrs to finally get over my anger. So they're still ticket trks left and right huh.Heard the govenors daughter got hit and killed by a trk driver even though she was drunk its still the truckers fault. So I imagine thats why thats a trucker hater state.

If u were on the Columbus Bypass, why would u have to go to Washington Court House? Thats an hour from Columbus. Just wondering that one.

I would call one or two more attorneys or google them first. I paid $350 for a driver once (two years ago) to have an attorney fight his ticket. It's literally 20 minutes worth of there time that day and most of them have 5 or 6 cases a day down there. As an attorney once told me - "the courthouse is a little like our country club, we all know each other, we eat lunch together, and talk about the cases we have" and can pretty much tell you the outcome before we even get started.

Personaly, Im proud to be a buckeye and reside here. But, all u have to do is show up and fight. If the officer doesnt show, u win. If u dont show, then the courts say u are guilty. Been there...Done that. One reason I ALWAYS cruise the backroads here in the buckeye at no faster than 57 in a 55. If u are speeding, then u are speeding. Always, I repeat, ALWAYS show up to court. The officer that gave u the ticket MUST show up too. Be safe out there drivers.

Yup, just call a local attorney. My last attorney only charged me $100.
