Advice wanted for doing 90 & 45 setup

    I'm a newb driver. Would appreciate any advice or tips on the best set up for a 90 and 45 backing. Thanks :yes2557:

    The best setup? Wow, at my school, we had to do it their way lol.

    For the 45, the only real trick is to get the trailer pointed at your target, with the tractor orientated where you can see the trailer out of your window. Right before the trailer is 100% pointed at the target, get the tractor straight with the trailer, and from there it's a straight line back.

    TMC's EZ 45 that they drilled into me at orientation : pull straight alongside the dock, stop when the mudflap on the drives is even with the leftmost cone. (your right) Turn wheel all the way to the right, go forward until the tractor is pointing at the 11 o'clock position in relation to the dock. Stop, turn wheel completely to the left. Go forward until tractor is at the 9 oclock position. Straighten wheels, reverse 4 feet.

    TMC makes us start off about 3 feet from the darn cone.... Hopefully you get more mercy haha.

    For the 90... well, I did my 90 with a trailer that had a dump valve, so my advice wouldn't help you much!

    Ahh the dump valve :D

    My trainer at Stevens taught me that after you set up for a 45 and have your trailer aimed at the hole, come out of it when your tires are parallel to the center of the landing gear.

    :mconfused: Understanding I'm a monkey brain... I don't follow. I'm trying to visualize what you mean but I'm just not getting it. Not to say it's wrong - only that I don't quite understand.

    Look in your driver side mirror. Picture a line at the same angle as your tandem sidewalls, along the side of your truck. When that line points to the center of your trailers landing gear, start straightening out. Some trailers have a "v" where the beams meet in the center of the landing gear, making it easier to get the center.

    If you have your trailer set up right, it works almost every time.

    for 90 dgree backing pull up parallel to the docked trucks and make sure ur tail is one full space pass ur space turn ur wheels all the way to the right your tail then will go in the space go in as far as possible then turn your wheel straight and pull forward then just follow the trailer in the space always watch your right outswing as your backing.

    Guess im to old to learn new terminology?, 90 and 45?, i never went to any school to learn how to drive, had some kid tell me the best way to back was the 4x4 move, can some one tell me whst this is?
