Towtrucker, you need to stop looking at the megas, because you have experience according to them. I take it you have your CDL A and have had for a while. A small outfit will hire you for sure with your seasoned CDL, and they typically don't advertise much. Start calling around and showing up to fill out applications. I'd check with Keen or Daily express as well. I'd stick with companies based in the Northeast to have home time. As a last resort, you could also try TMC as they have a Home Depot distribution center in Mass.

Do you have a hazmat endorsement? You could probably get hired on locally hauling gas. I did it for 7yrs and its not as bad as you'd think. I'm in upstate NY and gas is the best paying gig around here as far as local work. $25hr is the average here, you're home every night, and its VERY steady work. Just an idea.

What Ric said. There must be a local equipment rental place that delivers excavators, wheel loaders, backhoes etc that would hire you in a minute. Not sure anything will pay what yiu guys make though.
