Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has brought their cat with on the truck? If so what do you do about the litter box, and how do they ride? Mine is about 4 yrs old and I know he won't be happy with anyone else. Also I'm having a hard time finding someone I can trust to take him if I can't bring him. Both companies we have applied to say I can bring him. I just don't know how that would work.
Advise on taking my cat with me please

I would guess it would be smart to clean the box at each stop.Maybe with a scooper? Litter might come in handy for other reasons too. See guys with little dogs , sometimes two of them all the time.
Only thing I might be concerned with is how does the cat like car rides?nightrider57 Thanks this. -
I have a cat at home, but I wouldn't want to bring a cat on the road. I don't feel that it's fair to keep a cat cooped up in the truck all of the time, and I'd really be worried about the cat bolting when I open the door. Cats don't just come back once they bolt.
I have seen trucks with cats sleeping peacefully on the dash, but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with a cat in the truck. Way too much to worry about, IMO.nightrider57 Thanks this. -
I've seen trucks with cats many times, and I've seen 2 cats in a truck. I suppose you'd have to keep the litter box under the bunk if there is space there, otherwise a small box would probably then have to go in front of the passenger seat. I'm not sure how they do water to keep from sloshing out of a bowl and the cheaper cage waterer bottles (that have the ball to seal) don't seem to seal well but maybe the better ones do.
How does your cat do with trips in the car? I can understand your dilemma but if you have to let him go, I'm sure an older widow lady perhaps would probably love to provide him a good home. Pets can be a problem in situations where maybe your truck breaks down far from home and has to be in a shop for a few days while you wait on it, then you're stuck trying to arrange to find hotel who takes pets or a place to board your pet. But personally I'd rather see a cat cooped up in a truck permanently, rather than a dog.nightrider57 Thanks this. -

I think cats who are most comfortable in a truck were put in a truck as kittens and grew up in the truck so they are used to being in a small place. Taking a cat who is used to a larger space and cramming him in a truck, you might find that he doesn't much care for the life and will take his frustrations out on any available fabric surface.

I have 2 of them with me. litter gets cleaned each stop I make, scooped, total litter change 2 times a week, both cats love the truck, they both have their special spot they like to curl up in. Never had them bolt they sit and wait for me when I open the door they move so I can get in. They curlup with me at night after they play their game of tag around the cab and sleeper. I would not leave home without them.

There have been many times I wish my orange tabby could ride with me. But he's a longhaired kitty, and that wouldn't work out very well.
nightrider57 Thanks this.
