My experience with cheap steer tires is worn out aluminum rims. You'll have to declare those Chinese tires at customs as well so factor that in.
As a side, my XDN2s are on schedule for lasting 800,000 KM. They did cost more to get in, but I haven't bought drive tires in 4 years. That's also something to consider.
Aeolus tires, anybody got any insight?

I figured all up for drives, steers, fitting, idaho sales tax(6 percent) and customs duty on importing the tires to Canada (approx $800 using the cbsa duty estimator calculator on their website) it would be right around $4600. Compared to approx $6k to $7k for tires in Canada. That difference is a lot of money to me at the moment so I'm going to have to give this some more thought but I ain't really got it to spend so for now I may have to settle for the lower cost tires as my budget can't really absorb a $6k cost at this point in time.
The Canadian price includes the casing credit as quoted to me so that's the "out the door price". The approx price for the Aeolus tires from loves does not take into consideration the casing credit so it would probably be a little lower once casing credit is subtracted from the initial cost. -
Michelin drives are $550 in Canada , steers are between $600 and $700 each. These are tire only prices not including mounting etc. -
Do you ever get through Abbotsford? Ive been using KMTS for a few years. Excellent prices and loves to take customers from Kal Tire.

Ever get through Ontario OR? It's where that Pilot is at the first exit on 84 coming from ID. Next to the Pilot is a Les Schwab tire place. I've got great deals out of them for both drives and trailer tires, as well as great casing credits. Best of all is Oregon has no sales tax!
kw9's rock Thanks this. -
at loves they gave me $75 a piece for 4 tires that could be sold as used tires 60 a piece for 2 tires that were good for casings and paid $10 each on 2 tire disposals
kw9's rock Thanks this.
