How could they not know about two invoices per load?

Because they'll dispatch two loads from the same tank

What are "frost laws" and how do they affect the way a driver does his job?

They limit the amount of weight per axle to protect the ground as it defrosts

    RockinChair and michaelWA Thank this.

As an example: come spring, the law dictates that certain roads around the counties are reassigned to a lower weight-per-axle rating.

Throughout the year, we would load heavy and I would haul 125 bbls on a two axle 130 barrel tanker-trailer. This was about 12,000 pounds over the legal limit, but they were short hauls and earned $162 per load to the company; $1.30 per bbl.

Come spring, when frost laws came into effect, I could only load about 70 barrels, to be legal, earning $90 per load. And legal we would remain, as the deputies and troopers we’re out far more.
