Hey all. I'm in training g with my company doing National but after this I'll be running the Northeast region. I figured it'd make sense because I live in Buffalo, NY.

However, after traveling the I-95 going through Baltimore and DC, I'm kind of regretting my choice haha...if I have to stay with it, do you guys have any tips? How do I plan for parking? Thanks guys...

(I hope I didn't write my death wish lol)

Stop by 3p everyday you won't have trouble finding parking spots at most Truckstops.

    I know, I know...

Don't let your nerves and stress get the best of you, once you gain exp its a piece of cake. With new drivers it doesn't matter where you go,you're going to be nervous.I imagine many of the customers you'll be delivering and picking up will be more then once like a dedicated customer. After a few times you'll have the route memorized.Just relax and don't let the traffic intimidate you.

Whether you stay regional or run the road, you'll find your way into a busy city at rush hour sooner or later. Once you get the hang of it you will be able to plan your routes a little better so you hit them at night when you can and breeze right on through.

Also the northeast has many low bridges tight roads and turns so do yourself a favor and get a truckers atlas and study your route before starting up and call the customer for directions.Look at the blow up map when in a big city you're delivering to.

Put you head between your legs and kiss your ### goodbye. Lol in all seiousness:

    1) Run nights when you can, less traffic and when you shut down in morning there is alot of parking in ts.

    2) If on toll roads service plazas are your best friend. Better parking and more food options, but no showers.

    3) If you can help dont stay on Jersey toll roads, and if you do the lot lozzards are not really girls, just dress up like them.

    4) Maine and New Hampshire are pretty places enjoy the sights

Don't park where everyone else parks...find a few hiding spots...they do exist up there.

As someone said, park for the night BEFORE (I say) 5 PM the LATEST. The rest areas (or service plaza's) on I-95 in MD, and NJ have some pretty good food, but most of the restaurants there, close early, then you have the "fast food" eateries still open. If you need fuel, get there even a bit earlier.

Make sure your EZ Pass has not run low. Make sure you follow the speed limits in the EZ Pass fast lane.

Leave the rest areas/truck stops, long before 5 AM to get ahead of rush hour traffic.

PAY CLOSE attention the the NJTP and the truck/car lanes signs. PAY CLOSE attention to the Express lane and the local lane signs to approach the GW Bridge, (after you pay the last toll leaving the NJTP),either gets you there by the way. Listen to 880 or 1010 AM radio stations for NJ/NY road traffic reports (updated every 10 minutes on 880 AM).

Pay close attention the road/traffic reports on I-95 in the DC area for the Woodrow Wilson Bridge opening to allow ships to pass. You usually will get a one day notice when it'll open up, so if you will be going over it the next day, remember that time, it'll open up.

    more stuff later

I don't deal with GWB and go up 287 over the Tapzee bridge and comes out just before the CT line on I95. Yes a little more miles but a lot nicer road and will not beat the equipment to he11 like over the GWB/I95/cross Bronx.

And YES watch the speed thru EZPASS as it is not fun losing it for 30 days or more......ask how I know :biggrin_25510:
