Here is a secret parking spot, find a lowes or Home Depot and park in the back. Free wifi and very quiet.

I run linehaul throughout the northeast. I'll reiterate what some have already stated. If your deliveries permit, run at night. From 4:30 am the traffic will start to build. DC area traffic starts earlier than NY Metro. Do not get caught on 95 south bound from CT into NY after 5:30 am - you will sit. 287 across the Tappan Zee is a nice alternative to the GW. The Cross-Bronx Expressway ( I-95) is definitely rough on your truck - and your back, don't speed and it's not as bad. Listen also to Jersey 101.5 for info regarding the bridges that connect Jersey City and NY Metro area, fast traffic updates every 15 minutes.

Study your road atlas and get to know the interstates. It always pays to know more than one way to get to the same destination.

Above and beyond, don't hit anything. Familiarity comes with experience, and to gain that experience you're going to be stressed out in the beginning. Learn how to manage stress as you go. It'll get easier, everybody goes through the growing pains. The more experience you get, the more you'll be able to relax and enjoy your job!
