I have applied to several companies, and have several prospects. Many of them are having a particular issue.
After one has completed his 5-9 weeks of training, some companies do not have a truck readily available, and they have to wait as long as 3-4 weeks before a truck comes available.
    My question is,
Which companies pay while waiting for a truck, and which ones do not?

I do not trust the recruiters enough to call the companies to ask them.

Depends on the company , I think.

Your best bet would be to ask this question before signing on with them.

Depends on the company. Superior Carriers had me do about a month of local work after I was finished with the trainer and went solo. I drove a day cab for the first week then the local driver who was sick came back. I then drove several other drivers trucks over the next 2 weeks while they rebuilt the engine of the truck I now drive. Our trucks are required to be parked at the terminal so there are always a couple here. I never had a break in pay but had I not been working I would have.

No doubt. If you work for one of the bigger companies you should bring extra cash suz you might have to wait awhile. Not to mention there are not a whole lot of trainers availible nowdays.

It takes a special kind of person to be a trainer. I tried it and it didn't take long for me to figure out that I didn't like it much.

The inside of that rolling prison cell is too small for one person.

ask the company. and i don't mean the recruiter. but i have not heard getting paid to wait for ur truck.

think of it like this after training. u are a driver right ?

if they are paying u by the mile than guess what ??? no miles = no money

I wonder what would happen if somebody waiting for a truck decided to file for unemployment while waiting for a truck . That waiting qualifies . You were hired then put out of work .

I haven't been paid for any waiting and I have done a lot of it. I get strait mileage. No layover, no stop pay nothing. I am making a whopping $260 a week before taxes.

TransAm Truck $350.00 a week to sit and wait for a truck. Husbands been waiting for going on 3 weeks. They pay for your hotel and shuttle you to the shop every week day where you just sit around watch tv, shoot pool and kill time.

    Baack Thanks this.
