Would it be helpful if I and a few of the other techs here created a thread that goes over the basics of aftertreatment systems? A lot of the small questions here seem like they can be answered if there was a sticky'd thread that goes over the topic both at a glance and in-depth.

I'm just curious, I'd be more than willing to write it up, and I'm sure some of the others would like to contribute as well.

I wouldn't mind making a Paccar MX for Dummies thread too.

Great idea. It'd be useful for other tech's as well. I switched to off highway equipment just as the DEF systems started coming out and as you probably know, heavy equipment doesn't use DEF (yet), so it'd be nice to be able to read up on it a little bit ahead of time.

i would be very interested in both topics. Our family recently got back into trucking after a few years in retirement. We bought a 2012 KW t660 with a mx13 at auction a few weeks ago with 500k on it. Also, just got a 2013 Mac half round dump to yank around. I'm trying to gather as much info on the truck as I can but there is not much out there (that I can find). I was a diesel mechanic from 2000-2007 then switched careers, but I was out of the business when all the emissions show up. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I'll get on it tomorrow then. I'll use this thread since it already has the title, and I'll put the Paccar MX thread in the Kenworth forum (unless you guys want it in the Pete or General Garage).

Looks like there is a time limit on when you can edit posts. I'll start writing information and make a new thread about it in the coming days.
