I keep hearing stories of passenger drivers cutting off truckers and then hitting the brakes?
Is this true?
Are Drivers out there that crazy?
What can you do to PROTECT yourself against "these types" of aggressive drivers?

Unfortunately it is true. Some people are so wrapped up in their own little world of texting reading talking on the phone putting on make up and a bunch of other stuff while they are driving that they just don't pay attention and then when they have to get off at the next exit or whatever they squeeze in front of you and start slowing down. When you blow the horn they flip you off and go on but yes it happens.
okiedokie Thanks this. -
Ok...but what can you do about it?
Suppose you rear-end the #### B ?
-
It happens but there is really no need to read too much into that..Cars do the same thing to other cars. One thing you cannot do while driving a semi is get nervous and worry about every single thing. That will cause accicidents a lot quicker then someone slaming on their brakes. You always need to keep your eyes moving, keep a safe following distance and ecspect the unecspected. When a car gets in front of you just slow up till he gets ahead of you.Sometimes cars will go slow then at the right time they'll slam on their brakes hoping you hit them so they can collect money from the insurance company.ALways stay aways behind vehicles incase some dumb stupid idiotic moran decides he wants to hit the brks.

There's aggressive drivers in cars, pickup trucks, on motorcycles, in 18 wheelers, & they're scattered all up & down the highways & byways of this country.
Those who pass you & pulls in front of you them hitting their brakes have a death wish!
The only thing that will save you in such cases is to be alert having fast reactions & very good brakes. -
dash. cam.Gunner75, SHO-TYME, jjsiegal and 1 other person Thank this.

Then that is where you need to have a dash cam or have some witnesses to back you up. Of course the DOT and locals will be there with their "professional" attitude and going over your truck with a fine tooth comb to make sure you "wasn't" at fault. I try to keep a safe distance but it don't do any good any more. I have thought about buying a dash cam for my own protection. But whatever you do don't hit the ditch or roll it or whatever because they will leave and you wont have a leg to stand on.

Dash cam.get one.
Joetro, cabwrecker and Gunner75 Thank this. -
The safe following distance went out the window a long time ago. If you keep a space for lets say 3 cars then 6 cars will try to squeeze in. I do try to keep a safe distance but that gets aggravating at times especially in towns and cities.
OPUS 7 Thanks this. -
If you keep a nice safe following distance from the vehicle in front of you and don't match your speed with his, you should be fine.Just keep your eyes moving and be prepared incase the idiot does slam on his brakes.
