Good point, and one step closer to autonomous trucks I suppose.

The point behind the vast investment in these super-coops really ought to be safety, despite how it may feel like a revenue stream. This particular feature seems as if it will actually save drivers/companies money.

I think some of the coops do understand that stuff does happen while driving(At least to tires) Illinois, I was grossing about 110k and I drove through the scale there and he came out and told me I had a low tire....just told me swing around and get er' fixed......

Since you’re in Idaho often, I’m sure you’ve seen how some of their scales say “closed” but prepass gives you red light meaning to pull in. How do you go about that?

    D.Tibbitt and Oxbow Thank this.

Highly doubt its "AI" . Most likely just a simple software program attached to cameras or infared signals to identify temperatures or somethin of that nature....this ai stuff gets thrown around willy nilly anymore

    Thanks.
Idaho and Washington have dumb crap like that going on. One of our drivers kept going since sign said closed but his prepass gave him red light… folks from the coop called our safety department, made the driver come back, gave him a level 3 and sent him on his way…sounds like entrapment to me since sign says closed.

    Kentucky and Tennessee have it

There’s a good video on YT from inside the scalehouse showing how it works etc

I actually haven't ever seen them say either "must stop" or "ok to bypass" when showing closed. Maybe it's something with prepass... I don't have that. Never looked into it but would be surprised if that was even an option with the types of loads we haul. We are always hauling over 103,000 lbs and have overweight permits. Gratefully if I'm under 104,000 they almost always let me pass when open.
