I got my Class A in 2013 in WA state. When I took my test there were questions on the written test as well as air brake test in the tractor before my road test. There was no Airbrake endorsement test that I knew of. I assumed that was part of getting my Class A.

I passed the test with like 5 points taken off because I'm better at floating gears than double clutching. Have driven for several different trucking companies since 2013. Now that I'm in Florida looking for work on indeed, it keeps asking me if I have an Airbrakes endorsement.

This is confusing to me because I didn't even know there was one. So my question is, is this new and I need this supposed airbrakes endorsement or am I good to go because I got my Class A in 2013?

“Airbrakes” is a restriction, not an endorsement. It’s a common misconception. Basically if you don’t pass the airbrakes tests, then you get the restriction, which will be noted on the back of your license. If you don’t have the restriction, you are good to go.

This makes much more sense, thankyou very much. I was worried I needed to get another endorsement.

OK, plenty of jobs for drivers in that area.
    How long since you've driven?
Do you want local or OTR?
Any endorsements? Air brakes isn't an endorsement and if you have a CDL you're good for air brakes anyway.

    tscottme Thanks this.
