I noticed some oil being purged from my air dryer and some oil seeping around the line that's attached to the head. The discharge line that runs to the tanks isn't blowing any oil at all when I unhook it from the compressor while running. What's going on here?

all the oil is going into the dryer at the moment.

How old is that compressor?

pull the line off and see if its oily inside . maybe you have oil landing there from elsewhere. that line should not be leaking anything, even if it is pumping some oil.

Might be the original compressor on million mile 3406e so it could be dying. I guess the line plumbed from the head going to the compressor is simply an oil supply to the pump?

JimmyWells and SAR Thank this.

What's the purpose of the line connected to head (where the oil is seeping)?

I got 2 cats with that same setup and both of mine look like that also, I however did put new o-rings on the fittings to stop the oil from leaking and making a mess.

oh,yeah, thats the intake. i was thinking pressure line. i'd pull both lines and look inside them. very easy to do. if the output hose is clean i'd not worry about the compressor. tuflow's are pretty much bullet proof.
JimmyWells Thanks this.
