Generally, a CMV with air brakes should not be belching air every 30 seconds. At least this is what I have always been told. I am not sure if you have an actual air leak or not. If you DO! If this leak is noticeable it is something that can get you placed OOS for the reasons I mention below!

Because TTR has so many people with comprehension problems, (I AM NOT referring to you!) I am going to make two replies to you! The first one goes like this! As long as the system is holding air and there are NO noticeable leaks you are 100% correct. Then this belching is simply a PITA! IF however, your air compressor is able to keep the pressure stable with a noticeable air leak and a DOT officer hears it this leak can get you placed OOS. A driver in my opinion should never "just" ignore an air leak. Notice my use of the word "can". It's not a given an OOS will happen, but it's possible!

There is a part of me that agrees. Just to keep it serious, a professional (A TRUE PROFESSIONAL) would not put such a vehicle on the road to start with. One thing my father taught me was to ALWAYS remember to keep my driving record as well as my reputation spotless. When I was an active driver I had little time or patience with carriers that played loose with putting junk on the road!

    Especially in today’s litigious society.
Ambulance chasing scum bags are waiting to pounce.
    If it’s not 100% it don’t roll.

Just to add a comment, I had a truck in the shop at the dealer, my mechanic and another shop could not find a leak that caused leak downs and the governor going off every 45 seconds but the dealer did. The leak down was getting worst so it was pulled off the road.

This morning i got a call to pick up the truck, it is fixed.

It was a two part issue, the up air bag on the lift axle had a split where the rubber was “welded” to the metal, it leaked enough where it drained the air out of the system when the axle was up. You could not hear it at all. The bags were soaked but no indication of leaking. The second issue and the worst was a bad air connector that was buried near the back axle, it was leaking but no one could not get to it to check it.
