05 volvo VNL ISX manual changed to a meritor auto/(automated i think is more accurate no clutch) many years ago. I am looking at changing the dryer cartridge.

I was wondering if it would be smart to change to an oil-coalescing filter to protect my auto conversion? It uses air solenoids to operate the trans. Since that is very expensive to repair.

My only hesitation is if it uses what little oil passes in the air when it was designed with the old standard cartridge to help lube the solenoids or system?

    Thoughts?

Oil in the air system is bad.

I agree i just wanted to make sure i was not missing anything that may need it.

150 is good insurance to me for what it could cost me.

Automated transmissions require a oil coalescing air dryer cartridge.

It’s a little more expensive, but it’ll help protect your investment better.
