Does anyone know how often the air drier is supposed to blast air out. Currently mine seems like it's working overtime and is activating about every 18 seconds. Also, is there a way to adjust the time lapse? Thanks for any help.

It's supposed to purge each time your air governor reaches cutout pressure. What kind of truck?

is your air pressure gauge going up an down that fast? I really don't think the compressor could go thru a cycle that quick, so I would guess the dryer and valve need to be maintained replaced.
If you don't have any leaks, and are not traveling on rough roads that you air suspension is working hard, or using your brakes, it could be hours between dryer cycles. -
When air is leaking off of the unloader circuit, either past the O-rings or at the air governor mounting gasket the compressor and dryer will quick cycle. What kind of truck, compressor/dryer setup?

I guess I should have clarified; my drier system left me on the side of the road in Laredo...had to be towed in. Laredo Volvo installed a new drier unit but the darn thing blows out every 18 seconds.
Bender, at the risk of...well I'll just say it...you must have been sleepy when you read this post as it is on the Volvo forum. But, there are no leaks that I'm really concerned with AND the air gauges never move. They pretty much stay at 125 psi. -
Actually I did forget where I was at the time but am still wondering what year of truck? The slight pressure loss that causes quick cycle of the dryer won't be seen on the guage or easily heard outside the truck. Is the air governor compressor mounted or remote? Do you know what compressor you have?

She's an '05. I don't know about the governor. The compressor is mounted on the engine though. Engine is a Cummins ISX 450.

The quick cycling is most often caused by a small air leak in the unloader valve air circuit causing the unloaders to repeatedly seat and pump air and hit cutoff pressure over and over and over again.

i had the same problem , although my truck have d 12 ,the culprit was in the first air tank ,its divided and there is one way valve inside ,if valve get stuck open you'll have leak from purge valve right after purge ,if it is so you need new air tank

Turned out to be the air governor. The old one (non-adjustable) was putting out almost 150 psi. In stalled new one and we're back to120 psi.
