Not totally defeated yet, going to try a couple more things. If the tank is coming off I am hacking it open if for nothing more than to satisfy my own curiosity. Probably be putting a new one on at that point. Bit bigger capacity would be nice. 90 on L 135 on R. Shop here can build 170 with 26" and it will fit.

You can Buy a new tank, or 2 and just have the fuel lines made for well under 2500
877 on the big tank, 675 on the small...
gokiddogo Thanks this. -
Can you send a link to that store please?
Mines 2016, don't see price being much different than before 2006. The 2500 is cdn$ which is about 1880, I don't have shipping or customs to consider. If exactly apples to apples the tank man quoted me 1915 or about 1440usd. Wonder if I could pick it up if it's on my route and slip it by customs.. -
I had this tank split…..right in front of middle strap……

This was actually my next move.. put a pipe within the pipe...
Went to the fuel tank making shop today when I was in the city. Picked up a new draw tube for cheap. Have to look closer, I may be able to replace the fuel sending unit with a new draw pipe. Worst case it always reads empty, I am capable of filling by mileage. And possibly, move the fuel sending unit to left tank, it *should* have a predrilled hole ready there. Tomorrow or next day job, working outside and it is polar vortex here for a while. Topped up the L side just to be sure I have at least 90g to run before next pickup. -
Was a google search for
"26" aluminum fuel tank"
4 state trucks for one, fleettruckparts for the other, both had been in the first 6 resultsgokiddogo Thanks this. -
Do you pick up and return to and from both tanks?
Can't you just reroute your fuel lines to the tank on the other side?
Or can you actually swap tanks from left to right?
