    front or back?

    can't adjust the front

the back, you have a leveling valve behind your front rear drive axle. if you look, its mounted on a bracket, which is mounted on the frame. this bracket has only one bolt in it for a purpose, such that if you loosen it, turn the bracket, you will adjust your ride height.

you adjust like he said in the first reply, but you need to call Volvo give them your vin number and they can tell you where to mesure and how high to set it, if you guess at it you could get a vibration in the drive line.

if you get it too high the transmission, not kidding, will sound like it is coming out. almost all the whitegmc/volvo's i've had will do that. i have about 2 to 2 1/2 inches from the bottom of the bag to the bottom of the horn . rides well. johnny

The way it was explained to me you can only adjust ride height by changing lenght of vertical rod connected to air ride valve arm. But if you try to adjust valve itself - like somebody I know tried to - you end up with new valve ...and bill for $ 250.

My '07 the valve went bad, was loose in the mounting, and was the real cause of the transmission noise I had.

When you change the ride height of the air bags you change the angle of the U-joint witch causes a vibration. It sounds like the trannys falling out, but the noise runs up the drive line to the shifter. You can have the carrier bearing in the rear diff. go bad and it sounds like the trannys going bad. you only have a few inches of travel in airbags so unless your trying to lose an inch to clear something or raise an inch to get over something theirs not much reason to change it. it dosen't make enough differance in the ride to make a differance, to raise it an inch dosen't move your load gauge hardley a needle wideth. Not trying to be a smart ___ ,but call the dealer with the vin number they will tell you how to measure it and you will be glad you did.

I'm sorry to hear, may he rest in piece.

However I have adjusted the ride height on my truck and no problems. You need to be aware of your surroundings
