Looking at some trucks today to purchase, some with an air slider, some without. Never had a truck without one....anyone have a stationary 5th wheel?

Some of the single axle daycabs where I work have stationary 5th wheels, but they are registered too light and with too few axles to do any linehaul runs with them.
The one I drive has a mechanical slider, and all the newer ones do now, but some guys here are simply too stupid to figure out how to use them the easy way, which is to unlock it BEFORE backing under the trailer. The latching of the kingpin loosens it and you can move it wherever you want. -
I have driven many that were stationary. The one I have now is an air slider, but I never use it.

I keep mine greased, because I move it frequently. I move it all the way forward for sets, 2nd hole for 48's. That's just for linehaul runs though. I keep it at the 2nd hole from the back for my city run for traction.
