The air starter tank is a completely different tank and everything. Your primary and secondary tanks can be completely drained and your air start tank full. You just have to make sure you have your air start tank leak proof.

I'm not
. They still use them today (Con-way that is, CF is long gone). Trailers are refurbished using the old axles. They are phasing them out finally, but a good portion of the "New" pups have wedge brakes.
They used air start up to 99. You only need 1 battery, but 2 with an isolator is better. Drivers always used to leave the lights on. The ECM's need over 9 volts to start. So they'd crank all the air out of them and then had no air AND a dead battery. We added a second battery for the ECM power only with an isolator that disconnected it from the other battery when it running.
The biggest issue we had was dry starters. They have a luber on them hooked to a fuel line. When the air bendix engages, it squirts a bit of fuel in the air line to lube the starter, just like oiling air tools. When the luber stopped working, the starters dried out. They'd usually still work dry, but use more air and crank slower. If it didn't fire quickly, you were out of air. Starter lubers were also the most misdiagnosed problem. It cranks slow and uses too much air, so throw a new starter on it and it works great. Problem solved? Nope, a few days later, new starter dry as a bone and doing the same thing.
That's a why I said it's hard to find a good air starter mechanic.
We also had issues with dump valves, but just like an electric starter, a few smacks would usually get it working to get you to a shop. Good working air dryers are a must. The big starter air tank needs to be drained once in a while too. Most do not have drain valves because it's another potential leak. I drained almost 2 5 gallon buckets of water out of one, which really cuts down on cranking capacity. -
ye 40 pin allright but just euro 1

40 pin ECM may be reflashed to Euro-2. and with ECM change and injector change you can convert this engine to Euro-3
