Air to Air Transmission Cooler

Air trans coolers work like a car radiator , the gear lube flows through the cooler , the air flowing over the fins cools the gear lube

I’m looking to do the same to mine. Right now I’ve bypass the OEM transmission cooler after it started leaking coolant into the trans. Been trying to figure out how to hooked up a air to oil type as described.

 

run the oil lines through the air cooler and block off the coolant lines to the old one and get rid of it

 

Mount the cooler anywhere that it can get a good flow of air. Also keep it positioned so the air goes through it and not just past it.

 

You can also adds a electric fan to it if you can’t mount it in a place with good air flow

 

I see quite a few mounted just below the rear of the sleeper.

Seen one mounted on its edge below the right front cab mount too on the frame, I’d be afraid a gravel would shorten its life span there.

I bought a good used one at the local heavy truck parts place, $100…..
