Hi AZ Equine. I am sorry I didn't see your message earlier.
SouthWest had a fairly large class size when I was there -- about 18 students in the class, and 3 - 4 students in each truck. I'm sure we would have benefitted from only 2 - 3 students in each truck, but I still felt that I got plenty of steering wheel time while I was there. There were 2 female students in my class. SouthWest offers the usual 4 week full-time course (4x10 days, Mon-Thu), a 4 week evening/night course (5x8 shifts, Mon-Fri, 5pm - 1am), and weekend course. Typical 2 weeks of classroom training followed by 2 weeks of road and range training.
I have nothing to compare them with, of course, so certainly won't say that SouthWest is better than any of the other local schools. But, my experience was a good one, and I feel comfortable recommending others to check them out. Give them a call and schedule a tour. : )

Enjoy the experience. : ) -
Leaving AIT and finding Southwest was the best decision I ever made for getting my CDL and Our Classroom teacher was a Female (Darlene) that has over 15 years experience and is an amazing teacher. I would recommend Southwest Truck Driving School to everyone. Ask for Carmine and Sheila for registration and Darlene for everything related to driving a truck. Tell them Fish Sent You.....Love Darlene <3 These people are all about you graduating and will help you in any direction you want to go. 100% Professional Company and very personal. Please check them out if you even have AIT in your mind. You will see the difference.

Good for you. I'm glad you had a good experience at SWTDT. I did too. My trainer was Danny, for both the classroom portion and the driving/range portion. Good guy. I got to talk with Darlene a couple times, and had a good impression of her too.
Take care. : )Highway Master Thanks this. -
I had a similar crappy experience with A.I.T only worse.
Am now very happily completing training at Southwest on 59th Ave in Phoenix.Highway Master Thanks this. -
I think all AIT schools suck it seems. I went to the one in california ( gardena.) The trainers are nothing but ghetto guys with a thug mentality. Some of them are x gang members. The office people are really nice. But teachers.... WHAT A JOKE!

Oh I forgot.. I took my permit. ( weither you have one or not) I went to Central. I have heard many people complaining. But i also have heard people speak good about central. I for one have no idea what the bad were talking about. Central in fontana CA WAS FREAKING GREAT! They put us up in a nice hotel. room mate was wonderful. Everyone at central was cool. even the trainers. They made everything realy easy and HAVE THEIR OWN DMV TO SIGN YOU OFF. Also you are have mountains around you . I know that was beyond relaxing to me. everyone will have their own company. Central did me well. And if you want to make the money. It is like fruit for the taking. You just have to do what is ask of you like any other job.
